Cottaging and Camping in the Bancroft
District Cottages
With
over 800 lakes throughout the Bancroft District, it provides
an excellent opportunity for people to experience cottaging.
Many of these lakes are surrounded by miles of wilderness
to further enhance this experience. Lakes vary in size
from the larger bodies of Baptiste, Paudash and Kamaniskeg
to peaceful ponds. Most lakes have cottage resorts which
can be rented on daily, weekly or seasonal rates.
Camping
 There is a wide range of camping facilities
available throughout the area varying from campgrounds
which can handle motor homes with electrical and sewer
hook-ups to walk-in tenting sites. These include our
local Provincial Parks. Many private camping parks also
offer seasonal sites which people can park their trailers
on for the full season. The Town of Bancroft is a full
service centre offering a wide range and variety of
products for the camper's needs. Also, throughout the
region are many service, variety and general stores
which can provide many of the amenities required to
make your visit an enjoyable experience.
The surrounding highlands are teeming with wildlife
and it is not uncommon to see white tailed deer, red
squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, porcupines, gophers or
beaver throughout the area.
