The Performing Arts Committee
Performing Arts Bancroft is the longest-standing programming committee of the Algonquin Arts Council. Known for many years simply as the Performing Arts Committee, it's mandate has been to bring excellent quality music, dance and comedy to the community of Bancroft.
The first season was in 1979-80 and since then Performing Arts Bancroft has brought a diverse collection of fine artists to the community including Sylvia Tyson, Famous People Players, The Hamilton Philharmonic, Maureen Forrester, Climax Jazz Band, Hagood Hardy, Valdy, Nancy White, John Allan Cameron, Sneezy Waters, Elyakin Taussig, Don Harron & Catherine McKinnon, Colleen Peterson, Ken Whitely, The Elmer Isler Singers, Arrogant Worms, Lorne Elliott, JP Cormier, Cadence, Trio Lyra, Ballet Creole, and True North Brass.
Performing Arts Bancroft has been very pleased to call the wonderful Bancroft Village Playhouse 'home' in recent years, and many of its artist have raved about the venue from both a performance, and an audience interaction standpoint.
Recently Perfoming Arts Bancroft has reorganized and re-dedicated itself to providing the community with exciting events from a varied palette of classical, jazz, folk, and world music, dance, and comedy.
