There’s nothing better on a hot summer

day than jumping into a clean refreshing

lake, surrounded by old growth forests,

under a big blue sky. Planning a beach

day? Take your pick, there are hundreds

of lakes in this region, and dozens of

idyllic public beaches to choose from,

not to mention a few popular hidden

swimming holes for the adventurous

wanderers. Build a sandcastle, have a

picnic, witness the glory of the sunset

over the lake, and remember what

summer is all about! Explore our winding

rivers by canoe or kayak, or hit the lakes

for some thrilling waterskiing. Don’t miss

Bancroft’s signature Wheels Water and

Wings weekend in July, with fabulous

features and events including the ‘Paddle

the York’ challenge. If fishing is your

game, you’re in luck. Our bountiful

lakes are teeming with rainbow

trout, large and small mouth

bass, muskellunge, walleye, and

pike. Take the boat out for some

relaxing trolling, or in the winter

months try your luck at the age-

old tradition of ice fishing. And of

course, you can bring your skates

and make a day out of it. For information
